Abdul will play host to a bunch of Divas

Everyone has been wondering what Paula Abdul will do next following her announcement that she would not be returning to "American Idol." Well, now we have an answer. Multiple Emmy and Grammy awards winner (and now former judge of "Idol") Paula Abdul is set to host the "VH1 Divas" live concert event that is going to air in September.Joining fellow "Divas" performers is one of America's favorite pop idols (and a former contestant on Paula's show) - the platinum selling artist, Jordin Sparks. Previously announced "Divas" include Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus.

For the first time ever, these leading ladies at the top of their musical game will perform together live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York. Continuing in true "Divas" tradition, the evening will feature a night of unforgettable performances from various performers, presenters and special guests. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. "Divas" premiered on VH1 in 1998 and aired annually from 1998 - 2004. After a five-year hiatus, the show is now returning.

It has become synonymous with some of the most memorable live female vocal performances in television history such as Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Celine Dion, Faith Hill, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, and Whitney Houston. The show was always a highly anticipated annual phenomenon, so I'm sure the fans are happy that it's coming back this year. They seem to be running low on the diva talent however, because Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus don't quite carry the same diva caliber as Whitney Houston or Cher. Even still, I'm sure it will garner big ratings, and especially now with Pauala Abdul's involvement."VH1 Divas" will be broadcast live VH1. VH1 can be found on channel 162 on DISH.
